The game was very positively reviewed, gaining a score of 83/100 on Metacritic.
The same day, a 'hardcore' mode for the game was announced. It was released for the Playstation 4 in the US on May 10th, 2019, and Europe, Russia and Australia on May 30th.
However, the game underwent several delays before releasing for Windows and Nintendo Switch on May 31st, 2018. Just Shapes and Beats debuted at PAX 2016, with an initial release date of later that year.
